Smokestak restaurant kit
It’s the beginning of 2021, the world isn’t quite what any of us imagined, and for a foodie like myself, whilst cooking up a storm for nearly a year has been fun, I miss restaurants! When you can’t go out, is it worth the restaurant coming to you? A lot of favourite places have pivoted to home delivery to survive. For me one of the reasons I eat out is to get something I wouldn’t or couldn’t usually do at home. Smokestak promises this by sending you slow cooked BBQ smoked meats.
We decided on the two-pounder. 1lb of 15 hour brisket, 1lb of pulled pork, house BBQ sauce and pickled cucumbers. We boosted this with the ginger and green chilli slaw. By the way, this is not a sponsored post!
Full instructions for reheating are given, along with a Spotify playlist to get you in the mood!
Step 1 - What’s in the box?
The top of the box contains butchers paper, essential for the reheating
Both packs of meat come vacuum sealed in plastic
Sides are delivered in plastic pots, wrapped in clingfilm, no danger of spills
Step 2 - Heating and eating
The kit comes with butchers paper, or you can use grease proof paper
Open the sealed packs and wrap the meat in the paper
Put onto a rack over a pan and stick in the oven
After 30 mins check the temperature, unwrap and give the meats another 10 mins to crisp up
Slice the brisket into thick 5mm slices, decant the sauce, pickles and slaw, open a cold beer and dig in!
Is it worth it? Yes! I wouldn’t want to fire up the smoker and tend it for 15 hours, and certainly not for a small amount of meat. Smokestak does the hard work here, the meat is meltingly tender, and the flavour is amazing. The pickles cut through the richness of the meat, and the coleslaw adds a spicy zing. I look forward to the day I can share a bigger pack with friends!
