Vacuum food sealer
Never did I imagine I’d end up owning a vacuum sealer. These are used for tightly packing food to store it right? Well yes. Food will last around 3 times longer when it is protected from the air and can’t lose moisture easily. However, it is these properties where the beauty of vacuum sealing helps the home cook produce amazing dishes. Keeping in moisture means more succulent meat when you sous vide. And keeping out air and moisture in is perfect for some curing processes, such as the one to make rolled pancetta.
My device is this one, but they all work roughly the same way. Put the food in the special bags that come with it (and easily bought separately), place the open end in the sealing chamber, click shut and press the vacuum/seal button. It is that easy.
