What's it all about?

The FatSteak Club is a food blog dedicated to hearty food that doesn't have to be good for you but should always make you feel good. Like that feeling when you are presented with a big fat steak!

These days a lot of emphasis is placed on clean and healthy eating and with the latest and greatest fads in the world of food and drink, it can be difficult to follow.  Whilst there is definitely a place in our lives for this, food also has to make you feel good.

Food that makes you smile can be the warming slow cooked stews of Winter time, the smell of the BBQ smoke, a favourite dish in a restaurant, a crisp salad served up beachside on holiday, or a simple bacon sandwich, the list is endless!

We aim to bring you new content at least once a week, so follow our blog, Instagram or Twitter feed to be notified.

How to join us?

As we are a club we would love it if you joined us and contributed to the site.  If you are a budding food blogger, keen traveller, or just want a platform to share your love of food and cooking you can submit an article - contact us HERE.

Adam & Dave

We are two friends brought together by a career in IT, but our friendship is firmly based in food, drink and travel - but mainly food! We aim to show you tips and tricks that we have picked up along the way; inspire you with a few recipes we rely on; and save you some money or time by testing the gadgets that are either useful, or are now at the back of a cupboard.

We will also cook from our favourite recipe books, magazines and websites and let you know what does and doesn’t work, filling in instructions that might be missing from recipes, and showing ways of improving dishes.

For me, food is not just about the eating, it’s something to get excited about. Whether it's the mighty baked beans on toast or the finest ribeye steak, it puts a smile a my face just thinking about it, and when eating it, makes me happy. This is what I love about food, how it makes me feel and I would like to share a portion of that with you too.

I am one of those people that thinks about what I’m having for dinner tomorrow night as I am making my breakfast for the day. A food obsessed feeder, happily spending hours in the kitchen pottering, whether it's making a belter of a family roast, a big barbeque or just trying out something a little naughty to indulge myself, it’s my relaxing happy place.

Having been cooking since working in a pub kitchen in my teens, I love bringing smiles to peoples faces with simple (most of the time) and hearty dishes. They aren’t always healthy but there are too many good things out there to be an angel all the time.

So with a healthy appetite and two growing boys in my house to feed, you will see a good mix of stews, curry, classic puds, meat feasts and other filling family treats along the way as well as a few leftfield choices to mix it up.

Happy cooking!

My most recent "FatSteak Club" moment came in Cape Town in a steak restaurant recommended by a local.  When I was presented with a perfectly medium rare 600g T-Bone steak life was good!

My love of food began with my Mum and Nan teaching me to cook.  One of my earliest memories is making jam tarts in my Nan’s kitchen, helping roll out the pastry, and learning a valuable lesson of how hot jam gets when first taken out of the oven!

Cooking, for me, is definitely a hobby, as was proven many years ago with a very brief appearance on Masterchef.  Cooking under the pressure of two presenters and three camera crews proved too much, and, if you are lucky, you can see just about catch me in the 12 minutes of TV time I contributed too.

My other main passion is travel so expect many posts from me from around the world.  One of my favourite types of holiday is an American road trip – one of the best routes was from Dallas to Memphis to Nashville to Atlanta.  Many fond memories of American BBQ, steaks, fried chicken and a large amount of food that tastes great, but really isn’t that good for you!
